This won’t be your usual talk on marriage. This will be a very practical and frank discussion on how to actually get married and stay married.
We currently live in a world of:
- Hollywood ‘happily ever after’ stories and social media couples – how do we really understand love and romance, and is it like we see in the movies?
- Rising divorce rates – what contributes to this and how can you best prepare yourself for marriage?
- Dating and hook-up culture – what’s the Islamic perspective on dating and getting to know someone for marriage?
Imam Shabbir will also share some interesting insights and stories from his experience of officiating more than 600 Nikah ceremonies in the UK and abroad. After working with hundreds of young couples and helping them to get married, he’s picked up on various trends, misconceptions and common questions which he’ll be going through.

Shabbir Hassan is a speaker, Imam & teacher. He is a graduate Alim from Ebrahim College, London (Alimiyyah – Arabic Language, Islamic Sciences and Hadith studies) and also attained an MA in Islamic Education from the University of Warwick.
